Kamala Harris

Kamala Devi Harris, born October 20, 1964 was a prominent American politician as well as a lawyer. She is currently the 49th vice president of the United States. She is both the first female vice-president as well as the highest ranking female official of the United American. She is a member and former US senator who represents California. Harris was born in Oakland, California, Harris graduated from Howard University and the University of California, Hastings College of the Law. After starting her career as an Alameda County District Attorney, Harris was recruited to San Francisco District Attorney's Office. In the following years, she was the City Attorney of San Francisco. In 2003 she was elected San Francisco District Attorney. She was appointed Attorney General of California in 2010, and then she was re-elected in 2014. Harris was the junior member of the United States Senate from California from 2017 to 2021. Harris beat Loretta Martinez in 2016's Senate election to become the 2nd African American woman and first South Asian American senator to be elected to the United States Senate. She was a senator who advocated for healthcare and federal de-scheduling cannabis. The path to citizenship for immigrants who are not legally recognized. The DREAM Act bans assault weapons and progressive tax reform. In the news, attention was paid to her sharp examination of Trump administration officials at Senate sessions. This included Trump's second Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh who was accused of sexual misconduct.
